Eco-Friendly and Organic Baby Products

There are many products that have organic and eco-friendly properties - these are said to be better for babies. To give your little one the best start in life, here are a few tips:

The nursery: When painting the nursery, do it well before baby is born so that you reduce the chance of baby inhaling the toxic VOCs from paints and varnishes. If you’re pregnant, try to use water-based low VOC paints where possible. This is so that you do not inhale the toxins, which can be passed onto your unborn baby.

Organic mattresses and bedding: These are made with organic cotton and many are filled with natural fibres that reduce allergens and provide good comfort. They are made without using synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and may reduce skin allergies and respiratory problems in babies.

Nappies (Diapers): Biodegradable disposable nappies are very good for the busy, eco-conscious parent. They are better for baby’s skin mainly because they are free from harsh chemicals like bactericides and pesticides, which have been known to cause rashes and allergic reactions. Eco biodegradable nappies contain unbleached fibres and natural absorbent materials such as Maize starch, making the nappy biodegradable and kinder to the environment.

Skin care products: Babies have delicate, sensitive skins and they require mild products made from pure ingredients. Many organic baby products offer moisturisers, shampoos and bath washes without nasty foaming agents or harmful additives. All of which are ideal for baby’s sensitive skin.
